BIG Mistakes!!

Monday, May 23, 2016

Let’s BLOG!!

Do you ever wonder about PRIDE? Just what is pride, anyway?

pride:  noun – a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired; a sense of achievement. (Webster’s)

pride: noun – pride is an inwardly directed emotion that carries two antithetical meanings. With a negative connotation pride refers to a foolishly and irrationally corrupt sense of one’s personal value, status or accomplishments, used synonymously with hubris. (Wikipedia)

“Now the man is thought to be proud who thinks himself worthy of great things, being worthy of them; for he who does so beyond his deserts is a fool, but no virtuous man is foolish or silly.” (Aristotle)

Then there’s Hubris. “As one might expect, hubris is not necessarily associated with high self-esteem but with highly fluctuating or variable self-esteem. Excessive feelings of hubris have a tendency to create conflict and sometimes terminating close relationships, which has led it to be understood as one of the few emotions with no clear positive or adaptive functions.” (Rhodwalt, et al.)

Growing up in my humble home and one of nine children, this is what we heard non-stop from our beloved Mother: “Pride is very important and we all absolutely must have it!” She  explained the difference in what she referred to as “true pride and false pride”. She was very wise, my dear Mother, and explained life’s lessons to us in plain, simple and loving terms. Where pride was concerned, she taught us the huge difference between the two prides and there was no mistake by which we were to live our lives.

Here are the BIG Mistakes we must be mindful of as we live our gift of Life here. If we are to be favored by our Lord and Savior with His unconditional LOVE, the least we can do is what my Mother always told us kids: “If you know right from wrong, always choose right and you can’t go wrong”…now how simple is that?! Thank you, Mother!!

*Mistakes People Make With Pride:

Think they don’t have any.  (Galatians 6:3)

Forget it made the devil fall.  (Isaiah 14:13; Luke 10:18)

Rarely say they’re sorry / apologize / ask for forgiveness / admit they were wrong.

Forget that confession of sin breaks it’s grip. (James 5:16;1 John 1:9)

Don’t realize it may be the very reason why the are in a downward spiral. (Prov. 16:18)

Hold others to a higher standard than themselves (self-righteousness). (Romans 2:1-3; Matthew 23:1-4)

Displace God as judge, jury and executioner. (Luke 9:53-57)

Turn away others according to their own criteria versus God’s. (Luke 9:49-50)

Overlook that it’s the source of all conflict. (James 4:1-10)

Think they can serve God and remain alone. (Hebrews 10:25)

Don’t understand that only Jesus Christ can free from the ultimate pride: an unrepentant heart and a refusal to surrender to God’s will and way. (Romans 6:23; Psalm 18:3) ———- (The Bible)

We already have The Ten Commandments for living our daily lives in honor of Him—Thank you Moses!!…so when I read these big mistakes where PRIDE is concerned, I felt maybe we all could use a little check-up in this department. I’ll be the last one to throw the first stone, so as in my dear Mothers’ fashion , I humbly offer you this list of suggestions for a better YOU.

God is Good! God is Great!! Always!!!

I love you and yours,

Margaret

PS – Everyone likes a nice decent person, and most are striving to fit the description. Why is it so hard then to be good sometimes? Moments of weakness happens in all of us. FORGIVE YOURSELF—YOU’RE WORTH it!!

AW, What’s The Point Anyway!?

Monday, May 16, 2016

Welcome to my Monday Blog, Everyone!!

How’s your heart today, so far? Mine is filled with appreciation. It has everything to do with the fact that sometimes I get caught up in my own expectations and lose sight of what really matters in the big scheme of things…ya know? When we try to control the situation we often miss out on the Blessing…“I gotta do this, I gotta do that, somebody dropped the ball – oh, no, that was ME, what the…” you know what I mean. We’re “all that” and have the power to pull off whatever comes our way, as we see fit — it’s all about US, basically. This past weekend was just a blur and frankly now I know why! As I lay there in bed last night though…exhausted, pondering the events of the weekend and how I had “planned” it all so well, I thought to myself, “Aw, what’s the point anyway?!” When I woke up this morning, however, I realized that the weekend was a complete success…in every way!! The only bummer, was ME—I’m my problem. Control freak?! But seriously, I wouldn’t describe myself as one of “those”…not really (but if the shoe fits, wear it ‘n weep, baby!)

So, this morning, the Lord led me to Job…ya know that fella’ in the Bible with all the patience—The humble one filled with humility?  As I sat down here to blog, I asked God to give me the patience of Job. He led me to Job, Chapter 27, Verse 2-8

“As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgement; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tounge utter deceit. God forbid that I should justify you; till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my  heart shall not reproach me so long as I Iive. Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me the unrighteous. For what is the hope of the hypocrite, that he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?”

This is pretty heavy, I know, based on what was on my heart this morning, my weekend and my request of God for patience…YIKES!! AMEN!!

What I asked for was one thing and what God gave me this morning is a lesson in humility and Grace. His Grace. God is telling me that He is in charge…of everything, not me. He gets all the credit and all the glory, not me. I have nothing worth having without Him. I lost sight of my true goals about this past weekend. I made it about me, instead of about Him.

So what’s the point anyway?  What we do, how we do it, why we do it and WHO we do it for…that’s the point!! And I thank God, for reminding me of what it truly means to trust, honor and obey Him in ALL I do—ALL the time.

This week, let’s ALL be mindful of just WHO really matters down “here” while we’re all running around in our daily lives, making stuff happen…it’s not about us, my friends, it’s all about Him. Do you have a heart for Him?  Hallelujah!!

I love you,

Margaret

PS:  We only ever need one person standing in agreement with us and His name is Jesus!!

Cool Gifts

Monday, May 9, 2016

Happy Monday—It’s BLOG time, my Friends, but first, I hope your weekend was filled with Love and also, if you celebrated Mother’s Day, I’m happy for you. I’m blessed with a son and daughter, that no matter how much I embarrass them, they still LOVE me—heck, they even shower me with all kinds of cool gifts on my special day. They ROCK and I’m BLESSED!!

Speaking of cool gifts, as I was opening some of mine yesterday, I was reminded of the one incredible gift we ALL share…it’s the most special gift ever, too!! What is it? You know…think about it…YES, our precious Gift of Life—The gift of US!!…and without being a downer so early on a Monday morning, I must remind us that we, all of us, take our incredible gift for granted. It’s just so easy to do, isn’t it?

How about this: how many times do we ask God for something, receive it and then what? What about the “Thank You”…do you wait a few days, weeks, even months and ask for even more gifts in between, before you get that last thank you “in the mail”…to God? Just think about it. God in His love for us, has favored us with the greatest gift of all the moment we took our first sweet breath. What are we to do for Him?

It’s simple: Get that “Thank You” out to Him — Thank Him, Praise Him and show Him you really mean it, by using your wonderful Gift of Life in ways that tell Him you are sincere and pure in heart. If we think about it, we’ll find that we have the easy part…all we have to do is ASK Him for what we want Him to do for us. It goes both ways though, my dears…Oh, this a perfect time for The Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Hey, we’re all sinners, but here’s the ONE sin we don’t have to live with anymore: Forgetting to thank God for His Gift of Life to us—Talk about Cool GiftsLife Now that’s a gift like no other!! Truly we can never run out of reasons to thank Him. But this is a no-brainer, this “Thank You” should be “in the mail” every single day of our lives. AMEN!!

God is Good! God is Great!! Always!!!

This week let’s all remember that Grace is when God gives us good things we don’t deserve…please, let’s all be more THANKFUL for all our gifts!!

I love you,

Margaret

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: Kindness in your Face, Kindness in your Eyes, Kindness in your Smile.”  —Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Shake It Off!!

Monday, May 2, 2016

Welcome, friends, it’s BLOG time but first, I sure hope your weekend was filled with Joy!! As for me, it was one, busy three days! We had out-of-town relatives and guests here to celebrate my oldest sister’s birthday. It was a great time and the house was filled with non-stop laughter for three days. We ate too much of everything and had to force ourselves to go to bed each night, but each morning got funnier as we dragged out of bed and to the kitchen for coffee…we looked a sight! It’s amazing how much fun it can be with loved ones and it never fails that we always “make fun” of those who didn’t get to come…we even call them and remind them of how much they miss us! HA! It was a blast and we all know how blessed we are to have had this precious time together!! Amen!

So a few days ago I saw this quote:  “Mistakes are the learning bridge to success! – Brook Lynn

It dawned on me how truly profound that statement is…because it we didn’t make mistakes, then we’d be ….PERFECT!! Of course we all know that there is only ONE who is perfect and that ONE is Jesus! We will never be perfect, however, we should strive to live our lives “Christ-like” and as we do this, we will make mistakes, that’s a given; however, our mistakes don’t have to define us. Everybody makes mistakes—EVERYBODY!! That is how we learn! If we lived in fear of making a mistake, we’d never get out of bed in the morning, would we? That sounds like fear to me. If Jesus had feared His heavenly Father, rather than trusting in Him, where would all of us be right now? Jesus was faithful and His faith was greater than His fear. It all started with Faith. Our worth is in Jesus Christ. We must let our faith be bigger than our fear in every single decision we make. WE are worth nothing, our lives mean nothing, we accomplish nothing — without the Grace of God through His son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

SHAKE IT OFF!! Fear is only a little four-letter word…it has only the power we give it. We’re human, I know, and sometimes I think we use that as an excuse when we’re fearful and stray from the path of our Savior. Fear and doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. We know this. In the long run, God is more concerned about our hearts than our performance. If our hearts are right our performance will eventually catch up.

SHAKE IT OFF! No more fear— instead, put your FAITH in the One who loved you so much He died for you and remember…

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

This week, my prayers will be for all of us to renew our faith— without fear, in our Lord, Jesus Christ, and that He will remind us when we’re being unfaithful through fear.

I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”  – Psalm 34:4

God is Good! God is Great!! Always!!!

I love you,

Margaret
