Show Me Your Talent!!

Monday, January 25, 2016

It’s BLOG time, Everyone…and I hope you had a great weekend.   I’m still in Houston and didn’t get even one little snowflake from all that crazy weather across the country!! Guess I’m gonna have to head a little further NORTH! ☃

Here’s another profound quote I’ll share with you today:

Nothing in this world is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.”  – Brian Tracy

I had to read this a couple of times before I actually got it, but it’s true! I bet all of us can think of at least one person we know who is truly talented in some, or even several unique ways, but is not utilizing these talents. They are aware of their uniqueness but keep it close to the vest except with those whom they feel most comfortable.

What is it about us that we ignore our special gifts in this Life on Earth, so that we never really embrace them to the fullest? These, our truest gifts from God, Himself…do we not trust Him,  ourselves, our circumstances…fear of failure…all of the above? WHAT?

I know plenty of these folks…even multi-talented in many cases, with so much more to offer, but something within them holds them down…never to fully experience themselves and their innate talent(s).

Maybe all they need is a little nudge from someone they trust, admire or love. If you cross the path of one who shares such a talent or expresses such a gift, no matter what it is, please encourage them to USE that talent. If they can dream it, they should at least give it a shot!

Faith, Hope and Chatity – Sometimes that’s all one needs to cross the finish line in order to receive the true JOY God has intended for us, and to keep on going.

This week, consider this:  be a “do-gooder” when you have the opportunity because we never know how one tiny word of encouragement can change someone’s Life…Forever!

Show me your talent!!

Hello, my Friends!!

I’m traveling for the next week and am reposting the following Blog from a year ago. The message is timeless, however, so hopefully it will serve us all well…

January, 2015

Good morning, it’s me again, Margaret!

7:30am—Monday…time to Blog!

So far this morning, I’ve had three butter cookies, a cup of coffee (decaf/mandatory) and several conversations with God about what my BLOG topic for this week should be. By now, you know how much I enjoy blogging every Monday morning. The title is the most fun to come up with and I think I’ve come up with a good one for this week, however, there’s the blogging part which has to support it…oh brother!!

3:45pm—Monday…I’m still here…wishin’, hopin’, thinkin’ and prayin’ for the words to come. I did break for a few more butter cookies and a green energy drink for my challenged brain. OK, I’m just…

Live Like You’ll Die Tomorrow

January 11, 2016

It’s Monday Blog!! Welcome, my dear Friends!!

So, I’m working on my New Year’s resolutions I told you about last week and I’m proud to report that I’m waking up each morning reminding myself …’OK, big mouth, Rise ‘n Shine & Walk Your Talk today!’…(do keep me in your prayers, though, please!)

I’ve had today’s title, Live Like You‘ll Die Tomorrow, in a draft for over a year now…what caused me to pull it up today though, was this little quote I ran across this weekend:

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” – Gandhi

This is a powerful thought when you think about it— A little scary too! Just what would  we  do if we were told something like “tomorrow’s your last day here on Earth, so make it a good one!!”

Frankly, it’s a little chilling to say the least, right? As I began to truly ponder and consider this to be “true”, I also ran across some of GOD’s wisdom:

“I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.”  —The Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” —The Bible, Galations, 5:22-23

And finally…

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”                      —  The Bible, Psalm 34:8

Here are just three messages from God— Only three—And if we were to truly understand God’s wisdom in each, and “lived” our last day by just these three verses, I believe one’s last day on Earth would be a day pleasing to God.

My prayer for us all this week, is that we would think about how we’re living our lives and if we aren’t satisfied with some aspect or another, we’ll be honest with ourselves and make a change for the better.  AMEN.

Love & Blessings,

Margaret

Happy New Year!!

Monday January 4, 2016

Hey! Welcome to my first Blog of the New Year!!

Have you guys made any New Year’s resolutions?

Well, I’ve been thinking about what I need to leave in 2015 and what I need to add to 2016. I know precisely what I don’t want to repeat…and it’s more than I wanta’ admit…HA! Darn it!!

First, I’m going to refocus on the present. You know…this very moment! Let’s face it, what can we do about yesterday or tomorrow? We can’t change yesterday, it’s gone…nor, can we really affect tomorrow…it’s not here yet.  I will LIVE IN THE PRESENT.

Second, I’m going to add a little music to my personal space…I’m going to WHISTLE WHILE I WORK. I learned to whistle when I was five years old and frankly I believe that whistling throughout my childhood had a big part in saving my sanity…trust me! Plus, when I whistle, it just makes me feel good all over, ya know? (when I was twenty years old, I worked in an office in DC and was told by a fella “you shouldn’t whistle while you work  because it’s not “lady like”…I stopped whistling right then— (if I could find that guy today, I’d probably strangle him!).

Next, I’m determined to BE MORE PATIENT AND THOUGHTFUL TO OTHERS (except that guy that told me to stop whistling). I’m certain I fall short in this category but I’m gonna be better at this. After my first book was published, I became keenly aware that I wasn’t the only one who had a rough childhood. Throughout the country, meeting people at book signings, various events, etc., I’ve had many heartfelt discussions with some awesome individuals sharing their stories with me. This has caused me to be vigilant and taught me the need to LOOK FOR THE LIGHT in everyone I meet; so, I will continue to share my stories and BE A BETTER LISTENER .

And finally, I will be more mindful of the fact that I must PRACTICE WHAT I PREACH, WALK MY TALK, LIVE MY FAITH AND ALWAYS BE READY TO WITNESS FOR MY SAVIOR.

Hey, this has taken me waaay longer than I thought it would. I find I’m not near as cool as I thought I was before I started on this list…but one thing’s for sure: I CAN DO IT AND I WILL DO IT.

Pray for me, my dear Friends.I need it—Always!

GOD is Good! GOD is Great!!

I love you and may the Force (of God) be with you today and always,

Margaret
