Reunions, Book Signings, Family, Friends

Good morning, Everyone!

Well, this week’s “Happy Monday Blog” has just now turned into “Late Monday Blog”…Ooops!!

I can tell ya these last two months have been incredible and I’m running just a little bit behind in my normal routines. However,  I can also tell ya, I’m one blessed “ole’ lady” as my six year old granddaughter refers to me…no, really, she does— and she means it too. I love it!!

First, there was my 50th High School Reunion in my home state of North Carolina. I’ve been to a couple of them but this one was different. It seemed we had more in attendance than the previous ones and there was notably a “feeling” in the air this year that had not been present at the previous reunions. Everyone felt it and many of us discussed it afterwards. There was so much fun, laughter and joy and it seemed everyone just couldn’t get enough of Everyone!!  I hadn’t seen several of these friends in over forty years! It sounds incredible, but it’s true! Actually, by the end of the evening, as we were all goodbyeing, hugging and kissing one another, I came face-to-face with one classmate whom I’d actually missed the whole evening—so thinking I dare not leave without  greeting him, I turned to him and told him it was so good to see him again…well, he looked right at me and said ever-so-seriously & politely… “Well, I don’t really even know you, but I’m glad you came.”  At first I was a little taken aback, but then it just hit me, that he really didn’t remember me…at all. All I could do was laugh…at myself. I certainly remembered him and just assumed he remembered me. I told him that obviously he had made a much better impression on me than I had on him! We had a good laugh about it, hugged and parted.  Man, I just can’t wait till the next Reunion so I can return the insult…I mean favor!!

Next, I’ve attended two book signings there in my home town and they were just incredible!! Not only do I have all those childhood friends I just told you about (except for the fella who doesn’t remember me), I also have family still there. Now I’ve had several book signings, all over the country, since the release of my book in November, 2014, but as “Dorothy” would say: “There’s no place like home!” Getting to go back to my hometown where I was born, sharing with wonderful Friends is the best, and then to have the honor of the presence of some of my Family there as well, is just heavenly.

I repeat myself: “I’m one blessed ‘ole’ lady” and I know it. (Thank you, Bridget!)

In closing, if you have an opportunity to attend your High School Reunion, I urge you to GO—The very worst that can happen is that someone may not remember you…you’ll get over it. (I’m almost there).

This week let’s all remember that LOVE truly is a many splendored thing…

“And in the end, we were all just humans…drunk on the idea of love, only love, could heal our brokenness.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Have a wonderful week!!

GOD is Good! GOD is Great!!

Love,

Margaret

What you put into your mind will pour out into your heart and life. Put God first. Think about it—GOD first. Amen!!

Joy and Angels!

Monday October 29, 2018

Hello, my dear Friends,

Good morning and welcome to my Monday Blog!!

By now, most of you know why I especially love Mondays…I get to start off my work week with my Blog to all of YOU, which actually brings me even closer to our Lord Jesus. Trust me, this is an awesome way to start ones’ week!!

Whether or not you’ve read my book, “That Melvin Bray” , you know my heart belongs to Jesus and that’s the greatest thing I have going for myself, plus, I believe when you’re happy and you know it, you should spread the JOY!!

True story:

One time I was out to dinner with friends and I met the husband of one of those friends for the first time that evening. Actually, I had seen him on a couple of occasions, but had never been in a one-on-one conversation/situation with him. Well, as the Lord would have it, the two of us were seated directly across from each other, allowing us to interact more personally. So, about half-way through dinner, he leaned forward with his elbows on the table, looked me straight in the eyes and proclaimed loudly, as if he wanted to embarrass me and said: “Nobody’s as happy as you are, all the time. That’s not normal. Why do you pretend so…are you running for Mayor?” (seriously)

I just looked at him for a couple of seconds, and said, “Thank you for noticing my heartfelt Joy —Ya know, it’s the Joy of JESUS, and that’s the best compliment I think I’ve ever gotten, so thank you, so much!!” This truly was what I felt in the moment..

Well, sadly that pretty much silenced him but it was amazing how so many others at the table were eager to talk to me after dinner. When you’re happy and you know it, SPREAD THE JOY!! We must be mindful of our actions no matter where we are or who we’re talking to, because the Angel of the Lord is watching – You can count on it!

I also share my thoughts on Heaven’s Angels in my book and here’s what I know:

The Angel of the Lord: “And, lo, an angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great JOY, which shall be to all people.”  —Luke 2:9,10

Angel:  In the Bible, a supernatural being superior to man in power of intelligence, enjoying God’s confidence and acting as his messenger while symbolizing God’s presence, praising God, delivering His messages, fighting His enemies and guarding hell.

Guardian Angel: An angel to whom every human being is said to be assigned at birth for care and protection.

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” – Hebrews 13:2

From the Bible:

Angels can instruct people – Genesis 16:9

Help people – Daniel 6:22

Deliver messages to people – Luke 1:35

Appear in visions and dreams – Daniel 10:13

Protect people – Exodus 23:20

…and help carry out God’s plans -Throughout the Bible

I believe in God, His angels, His heaven, and most importantly, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior!

My prayer for us all this week is that we will all have a week like no other – one to be proud of and let’s all think about our actions when we’re with friends, associates, loved ones or total strangers – possibly even Angels! Remember, we’re all important to God…

Happy Monday = Monday Blogs!!

Yep, it’s blog time again and I’m thrilled about these next several blogging weeks which I have planned for us all. Starting today, each week, I’ll get into the story of “That Melvin Bray”, one chapter at a time, and we’ll just see what comes up.

Chapter 1 – Excerpts and Thoughts

“Remember to look though the windshield and not the rearview mirror, because you’ve already been there.” – Lee Shiver, an ex-Miss Texas

It’s Good Friday afternoon, April 3, 1953—Easter weekend. I start the story at this time in the life of the main character, Maggie Chillton, aka, Magg Pie, because this will be her first memory of her father under the influence of alcohol. She’s five years old and is home with her Mother and two younger sisters. Maggie’s daddy arrives home from the mill with his buddy Melvin Bray. They had stopped off at the liquor store on their way home. By the time they…
